Role Overview:
As the Head of Data Science for Advice, Wealth, and Strategic Enablement, you will manage a team of data scientists to drive the development and execution of AI/ML strategies focused on client insights, working collaboratively with product owners and business partners to enhance our capabilities. You will be accountable for ensuring the high-quality end-to-end execution of AI/ML projects, managing a team of data scientists, and fostering close partnerships with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with product owners and business partners to formulate and execute comprehensive AI/ML strategies and use cases aligned with business objectives.
Take accountability for the successful end-to-end execution of AI/ML projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
Manage and lead a team of data scientists, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Foster close partnerships with business analysts, architects, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to drive synergies and successful project outcomes.
Stay abreast of industry developments in financial advice and wealth management, as well as advancements in AI/ML techniques and technologies.
Engage in thought leadership discussions by demonstrating a deep understanding of business metrics and their impact on strategic decision-making.
Proactively identify and propose new AI/ML opportunities that have the potential to drive scalable business outcomes.
Represent Vanguard in internal and external forums.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience in the data science space with a minimum of 3 years directly managing data science functions in financial services
Exceptionally organized, takes full accountability for team's deliverables, and can zoom-in and zoom-out on technical details as needed.
Demonstrated experience working with large, complex data sets, including customer 360 data, call and chat transcripts, and other unstructured data sources.
Proven experience in building AI/ML/NLP solutions, including recommender systems, attrition models, forecasting, complaints detection, etc.. leveraging both structured and unstructured data.
Technology savvy with a strong understanding of data architecture and model deployment processes, including experience with cloud AI/ML platforms such as Sagemaker, Vertex AI, Azure, etc.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrable ability to build business partner relationships and influence stakeholders for AI/ML adoption.
Proven track record of building world-class data science teams, developing bench strength, and displaying a strong bias towards action with a results-driven mindset.
