Job Description

The key thing to know is that your role will be broad and diverse, with lots of opportunity to develop. You will join the Group Data Science team and will work on a variety of projects interacting with many different teams across the group. You will build AI and Machine Learning solutions to support a variety of business problems. You will be part of a team that is at the heart of developing generative AI solutions and capability within Legal & General.

The industrial placement program is designed to give you the fundamental experience and skill set required to excel in a career in Data Science and AI.

Over the course of the 13 month placement, you will be given the chance to experience different projects, develop your professional network and expand on both your business acumen and analytical skills. We hope that by the end of the programme you will have built a clearer picture of where your interests and experience can take you within Legal & General and the wider industry.

Qualifications

First and foremost, we are looking for people with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

  • Undertaking a degree in a related subject – such as, but not limited to, Data Science, Maths or Computer Science and on track to achieve a 2:1
  • Analytical mind-set, with a high level of numeracy
  • Great communication skills
  • Flexible and a team-player
  • High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning is beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with coding languages is highly advantageous

Group Data Science forms part of the Group Data Analytics Function.
