About the job:
We are looking for a Senior AI Researcher to work with our AI research team, conducting world-class research in the area of Intelligent Operations and Management of future Autonomous Driving Networks, influencing market and product development in order to deliver significant business value. The AI research team are working on production Datasets in close collaboration with a team of Domain Experts and Software Engineers.
As a Senior AI researcher, your knowledge and experience in designing and building intelligent systems will be applied to the areas of large-scale network self-optimization (configuration parameter optimization, resource allocation) and self-healing (fault prediction, fault localisation, anomaly detection, root cause analysis, remediation actions planning). We particularly encourage applicants with domain knowledge of telco network operations and management (O&M), as well as with experience designing and building multi-agent systems for telco network optimisation and control.
Responsibilities:
- Identify the state-of-art (both in industry and in academic literature) of AI technologies for solving problems in the domain of Autonomous Driving Networks. Such as Optimal Control, Multi-objective Optimization, Multi-Agent System, Foundation Model, etc.
- Contribute to rapid and iterative development of validated software prototypes based on AI technologies, and benchmark alternative solutions.
- Work closely with Domain Experts, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists. Collaborate with product development teams and partners in Businesses to productionise AI technologies, including providing source code and design documents.
- Conduct technical insights, contribute to strategic planning to maintain Huawei's technological leadership, and propose innovative solutions and ideas for Autonomous Driving Networks.
Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning.
5+ years of industrial or post-doctoral research experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.
Strong practical experience with Machine Learning (i.e., Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, Decision Trees, Ensemble models, Clustering, Association relationship mining, Bayesian Networks).
Hands-on experience with the building, hyper-parameter fine-tuning and incrementally training of neural networks for time-series and graph-structured data.
Experience with data-centric AI methods (i.e. Drift Detection, Data Augmentation, Data Balancing, Outlier Removal) for systematic engineering of training data prior to model induction is a great plus.
Experience with foundation models (i.e. Generative Models, LLM) for Goal-based planning and Utility-based optimisation is a great plus.
Experience with agent-based autonomous system (i.e. Multi-Agent System) is a great plus.
Good mathematics and statistics background.
Strong programming skills in Python.
Practical skills in the use of machine learning frameworks, i.e., Scikit-Learn, Pytorch.
Problem solving ability, and demonstrated ability to develop new algorithms and methodologies from leading open source initiatives and research papers.
Publication track records in machine learning and computer science conferences and journals, including, but not limited to, ICML, ECML, NIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, IJCNN is a great plus.
