Job Description

Overview:  The software engineer provides programming support for automated equipment control and systems data sharing.  This engineering position requires a minimum of a BSCS, BSEE or BSEET degree and applied interest in machine-process automation programming.  This contributor works within the automation engineering team to create/design computer-controlled machines and processes that are used to manufacture and test night vision devices along with supporting existing systems.  Software development experience should include object-oriented design utilizing Visual Studio.Net or other scripted languages. Electrical/electronic knowledge of HMI devices, computer hardware, networking, PLC hardware, electronics, component level design, electrical layouts, pneumatics, hydraulics, motion control, vision, safety systems and CAD are a plus.

Responsibilities:  Leadership and good communication skills to lead or work with a team of technicians, and engineers of multiple disciplines. The automation engineer may often serve as the project team leader to organize the participating members of the team. This engineer works across the facility, interfacing with all process departments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BSCS, BSEE or BSEET and courses in mechatronics/automation/system integration. Major in computer science and minor in electronics preferred. Good mathematical foundation, applied programming towards programmatic control of electro optical mechanical systems. Proficient use Visual Studio.Net with an emphasis on C# applied experience, Access, SQL, MS Office, MS Project, MS Windows.  Special emphasis on Crimson, Wago e!Cockpit/Codesys.
  • 2 years of applied solution development and systems software integration experience.
  • Understanding of electronic components and systems communications.
  • Industrial Networking, PLC and PC based control systems environments.
  • Robotics, optics, electronics experience.
  • A security clearance is required for this role.
  • Requires daily onsite presence

Preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma
  • Machine control programming, event driven process control, User Interfaces, Data
  • Special emphasis on Crimson, Wago e!Cockpit/Codesys.
  • Strong programming skills and adaptability among different languages and styles and industrial standards.
  • Hands on technical experience.
  • CAD
  • Version control and documentation
