Purpose of the role and the team:
Accountable for delivery of data and analytics solutions for Medical and BI&A partners
Lead developers and data engineers in the development and support of the data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, storage, etc)
Lead role in the development of scalable, global analytics & reporting solutions
Partner with the business (Medical, Strat & Ops Business Insights & Analytics) in the delivery and support of best-in-class data capabilities and analytics solutions
Collaborate with global IT team colleagues (business analysts, architects and developers to propose analytics solutions
Provide accurate scope, timing and cost estimations as required for data and analytics projects and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
Manage Medical Analytics operations and work closely with developers to identify and remediate production issues while adhering to best practices
Represent the Medical Analytics team as needed in key internal business team meetings, proactively contributing in ways consistent with the vision and strategies of the department
Capabilities
Hands on experience with data integration and analytics capabilities in order to lead developers with company approved technologies including AWS, CDP, PostgreSQL, Python, Apache Spark (PySpark, Scala), Tableau
Ability to lead building and management data using the AWS cloud-based data platform and tools (S3, Glue, RDS, Lambda)
Capable of managing development projects using Agile methodology with JIRA toolset
Working knowledge of enterprise systems data including ERP, CRM, CTMS and master data working with both Commercial and R&D functional areas
Possess strong technical, analytical, programming and critical thinking skills
Experience & Qualifications
Min 6-8 years of experience and 5 years of experience in a Data Engineering role
Experience and familiarity with the Pharma industry
Have a strong commitment to a career in technology with a passion for healthcare
Ability to understand the needs of the business and commitment to deliver the best user experience and adoption
Able to collaborate across multiple teams
Demonstrated leadership experience
Excellent communication skills
Innovative and inquisitive nature to ask questions, offer bold ideas and challenge the status quo
Ability to learn new tools and processes
Key Accountabilities
Key business decisions fully delegated to this position include:
Efficient resource allocation across projects
Optimal technical approach in developing solutions
Timely escalation of issues to leadership as needed
Design, develop and maintain reliable automated data solutions based on the identification, collection and evaluation of business requirements. Including but not limited to data models, database objects, stored procedures and views.
Developing new and enhancing existing data processing (Data Ingest, Data Transformation, Data Store, Data Management, Data Quality) components
Support and troubleshoot the data environment (including periodically on call)
Document technical artifacts for developed solutions
Good interpersonal skills; comfort and competence in dealing with different teams within the organization. Requires an ability to interface with multiple constituent groups and build sustainable relationships
Versatile, creative temperament, ability to think out-of-the box while defining sound and practical solutions. Ability to master new skills
Proactive approach to problem solving with effective influencing skills
Familiar with Agile practices and methodologies
