Foodsmart's clinical research team draws upon expertise in statistical analyses, epidemiology, biostatistics, and data science to provide data-driven insights and strategies for our clients and for scientific publications. We are looking for a self-driven Clinical Data Science Intern to provide research, analytics, and data support as part of our clinical research team. You are passionate about improving people’s lives on a massive scale through the power of nutrition and technology. You will conduct statistical analyses for internal and external functions, as well as help ensure the quality of data is met. You have experience working with large real-world datasets, conducting statistical analyses, building machine learning models, and interpreting results.  Please note this position is US Remote. It will be a part time, temporary non-exempt role that pays $18/hr. Responsibilities Work closely with the Head of Clinical Data Science and the Analytics Team to support advanced statistical analyses and interpretationDevelop reports for clients on their clinical metricsUse a statistical software package (R, Python, etc) to run statistical analyses on food insecurity, diet, weight, and other clinical outcomes Explore using statistical learning/machine learning methods to predict clinical outcomesWrite codes to make quantitative associations (using regression analyses and causal inference methods) Assist in automation of codes/analytic processesClean data and conduct quality checks Work with the engineering team to ensure accurate collecting and recording of dataConduct literature reviews for manuscripts to be submitted for publicationSupport additional tasks within clinical research  Necessary Requirements/Desired Skillset Strong analytical and quantitative skills2-3 years of experience in human subjects clinical researchExpert in R (tidyverse, caret, xgboost), Python (numpy, pandas, scikit learn, statsmodel), or similar statistical software packageExperience with SQLExperience with large, real-world datasets; not limited to merging datasets and cleaning raw dataUndergraduate or Masters in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics, data science, or equivalent degree Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environmentDetail-oriented and strong organizational skillsAble to work 10-15 hours per week in Fall 2022  Experience with claims analysesExperience with clinical trialsPublic health backgroundExperience with supporting drafting manuscripts for publicationsResearch experience in chronic disease prevention
