About the RoleWe are hiring a Data Scientist to guide our product and business decision-making abilities. This position will involve creating data pipelines and extracting new knowledge from the telemetry data (e.g., AWS Performance Insights metrics) that OtterTune collects from customer database instances. An example of a question that our Data Scientist could answer with this data is what is the most common performance problem in a category of databases. Another could be how the performance of a customer's database changes when they upgrade software versions and what factors could account for such changes. The data artifacts that the Data Scientist will produce will guide critical strategic decisions as we scale up our product. You will work closely with leadership, the product team, and the engineering team to carry out your work. You will also work with the marketing team to publicly discuss and present findings from your analysis outside of the company to promote OtterTune's ability to help database users. This could also involve creating external-facing dashboards that provide aggregate information about interesting database trends. We are interested in someone with a strong data analyst / mathematical background and not just having experience with using machine learning tools.
