The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Research Engineer, will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Designing and building models for process development and process optimization with new materials, and specialty polymers, in the laboratory and pilot lines
Leading teams on developing models and simulations with flow behavior of complex viscoelastic fluids
Defining and developing new product and/or new application opportunities with 3M Division partners
Leading efforts to drive growth through new technology development and advancement
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Ph.D. in Chemical, Mechanical or Polymer Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
Three (3) years of experience in modeling and data science in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Broad knowledge in the development of physics or statistics-based models to describe operations scale processes.
Experience writing models using GOMA, FORTRAN, C, or MATLAB is strongly preferred. Use of COMSOL or Fluent is also applicable. Experience in coupling experimental and analytical methods/tools for validation of computational models.
Strong communication skills, teamwork and problem solving ability.
Experience in transferring technology from laboratory to pilot/manufacturing plant settings.
Ability to work well both in multi-disciplinary teams and independently.

The expected compensation range for this position is $115,607 - $141,298, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
